Distributed Architectures

The Distributed Systems group of the Instituto Tecnológico de Informática is composed of experts with extensive experience in the fields of Distributed Architecture, Fault Tolerance and Operating Systems. With a long history in research and development projects nationally and internationally. The knowledge gained in research in these fields is used to provide solutions to enterprises distributed architectures: distributed databases / software-based replication architectures and middleware such as Web services,. NET, Enterprise Java Beans (EJB).

The group is highly specialized in fault tolerance and provides services to improve the availability and fault tolerance of distributed applications. It also offers optimization services for access to databases, especially transparent access to high-level applications.

It also provides consulting services in the design and implementation of distributed applications and provides services to optimize existing applications and architectures.

High Availability and Fault Tolerance

High Availability and Fault Tolerance can be applied at various levels.

At the lowest level, the physical infrastructure of a system can be transformed to reliable , eliminating single points of failure and replicating key components hardware.

At the software level, data and services can be replicated to improve reliability, availability and performance. ITI has great knowledge in the field of architectures and protocols replication. Techniques developed in national and international research can be applied in distributed applications and client-server architectures. Centralized applications can be made more resistant converting them to distributed applications and replicating the key parts.

Finally, we can improve the reliability of applications implementing fault tolerance design patterns in the initial phases of the software development process.

The group offers national and international consulting and development services , providing tailored solutions to infrastructure requirements and application architecture of the customer.

Database Replication

With the experience gained in this field, ITI has developed a prototype architecture for replicated relational databases. The architecture, implemented as middleware, can be used in a transparent way in Java applications that access a database using JDBC. This prototype serves as a highly flexible base to provide tailored solutions to clients with different conditions, such as applications in other languages, for example PHP.

Analyzing the demands and needs of business in these areas, ITI offers consultancy services and development, providing tailored solutions developments based on their own or third-party products.
